My child has gained a tremendous amount of self-confidence, self-discipline and a true love for the game of tennis since he has joined the Westwood Tennis Academy. I attribute all of this to David Minihan and the rest of the Academy coaching staff. The Academy has a wonderful individualistic positive teaching style where by they are very connected to each student.

Programs
The Academy is uniquely designed to give you a choice that will accommodate your budget as well as your child’s development needs.
The only requirements for participation in the academy are:

1. You commit to a three-month semester.
2. You sign up for the Player to Watch program which is the foundation of the academy.

Players can sign up for all or pick what is best for their development as well as their parents budget.

One of the academy coaches will assist you in designing your program that will be specifically tailored for the player.
After the semester, players can readjust their commitment for the next three month semester.  Click here for Spring Academy Brochure.

Player to Watch $50/month
Player to Watch is the foundation of the academy. This is the only mandatory monthly fee. It includes by email: private lesson evaluations and homework, player to watch stats (monitors players' efforts on the court), monthly academy newsletter, tournament monitoring and advisement. Players will also be provided an academy card which will have what type of string and tension the player plays with. This will allow the player to hand the card to a pro shop if they need their racket restrung during a tournament. And last, players will have unlimited use of the ball machines.

Match Day/Chalk Talk $45/month

Players at Westwood Tennis Academy will compete on a weekly basis against their peers. Match play among players of a similar age and ability level on a regular basis pushes them towards constant and consistent improvement. Our goal is for players to gain as much experience competing as possible so they have the ability to perform at the highest level, leaving behind obstacles that have held them back in the past.

It is an important part of our mental conditioning program that coaches, and more importantly players, are able to evaluate their match performance. Match evaluation forms will be completed on a weekly basis and will allow coaches and players to concretely identify strengths and weaknesses and set goals towards improvement. Parents and player will also receive the evaluation via email.

This program will combine playing practice matches, point play strategies and watching videos. Most of the program will be on court, but on rain days, players will have video instruction conducted by one of the staff professionals.

Traveling Team $70/month

Westwood has a full tournament schedule of local USTA tournaments. Our players are strongly encouraged to compete as often as possible to improve their rankings and their ability to compete under pressure. The academy provides transportation and supervision for those tournaments listed on our schedule.

Special arrangements can be made for those students wishing to travel to additional USTA tournaments. Students are strongly recommended to receive approval from their personal coach at Westwood before signing up for a tournament. All arrangements for travel, accommodations, supervision etc. will be handled directly by an academy coach.

All players are required to be USTA members as they will not be eligible to play in any tournaments we attend without a membership. One of our coaches will be able to assist with membership and entry to tournaments.

One of the valuable experiences you will find by being a part of the academy is our coaching staff guiding you to play the proper tournaments that will both challenge you and compete against players at your caliber.

This fee includes transporting players to and from the tournament, coaches’ expenses, coaching, charting matches and final evaluation via email. Coach stays with player through completion of tournament.

• If enrollment is less than 3, players’ fees will increase. More details at that time.
